The Auction Industry: A Frontier for Digital Transformation
My Role

Why I Took the Challenge
-
I thrive on modernizing complex, outdated systems and industries to drive significant impact.
-
I wanted to leverage my expertise in enterprise solutions and eCommerce to support secondary economy businesses.
COVID Redefined the Auction Industry’s Digital Role
Before COVID, auction houses and buyers saw digital marketplaces as secondary to in-person auctions. The pandemic forced sellers and buyers online, bringing mainstream eCommerce buyers and reshaping the industry’s audience and operations.

ATG operates eight world-leading marketplaces, generating over £3.3 billion in gross merchandise value annually. The platform facilitates more than 86,000 auctions for over 4,000 sellers, offering a diverse range of items—from Rolex watches and fine art to industrial equipment. With approximately 10 million monthly visitors, ATG connects buyers and sellers across the globe.

After years of mergers and acquisitions, the company was burdened with overlapping, inefficient tools and platforms, outdated back-end systems, and user experiences ill-suited for mainstream buyers.
